Nimis as seen from the bay.
The biggest landmark Nimis in our capital Wotan City as seen from the bay.

We are built on freedom of expression, and we value art and creativity as necessary components of society. We stand with our nearly 25.000 non-resident citizens around the world in support of free expression and art.

Ladonia is one square kilometer of land on the Kullaberg Peninsula in Southern Sweden. The path to Ladonia is about 2.5km through the woods along a winding path to the sea (you can’t get here by car!)

It is quite a trek, but the reward is an opportunity to explore Nimis, a 75 ton sculpture/labyrinth made of driftwood*.

* According to the Höganas Visitors Bureau, more and more people visit each year. In 2020 there were over 5000 cars parked and counted in a single day by the county administrative board’s own measurement.

What is the Royal Republic of Ladonia?

  • Ladonia is a micronation. We are an aspirant state. We are built on freedom of expression, and we value art and creativity as necessary components of society.
  • Our constitution is written to protect the citizens from the government.
  • Ladonia does not have an income tax.
  • We encourage everyone to participate in government, but it is not compulsory.

Ongoing Ladonian Projects

  • Ladonia’s current territory is very tiny. Certainly too small to accommodate all of the people who want to be citizens. One of our long term goals is to expand our territorial holdings.
  • We are constantly working to preserve the artworks and sculptures in Ladonia, and we also strive to preserve the environment that we live in and enjoy. This is ongoing.
  • Raise awareness and take action for a better climate. (Through Education, Research, Cleanups and Responsible consumption and production)
  • Support gender equality.
  • One of the hallmarks of a real state is a real economy and a solid currency.
